The waste-water-treatment plant of an international acting juice-producer in Mönchengladbach, Germany was upgraded. Every day an amount of at most 5,00m³ water is to be cleaned up. This water containes cleaningwater and residual amounts of juice. The average COD is 6,000mg/l with an alternating pH-value between 3.5 and 11.5. The effluent-limits of COD and pH-value are continuously measured with a value <<1,000 mg/l COD and a pH-value of at least 6.5. Our HPA anaerobic-system ensures that these effluent-limits are followed at all time. A screening unit separates coarse solids like pulp from the fluid. Two mixing- and equalization basins (MEB) are used to collect and homogenize the screened wastewater. The organic compounds are preacidified. Before entering into the anaerobic HPA-reactorsystem, the water is heated up with two heat exchanging devices. This ensures a stable optimum in temperature within the mesophilic temperature range around 35°C. Inside the anaerobic reactor the preacidified containments of the MEB are degenerated and converted into methane gas. The addition of sodium hydroxide and nutrients establishes the best possible condition for the methanogenetic bacteria. The produced biogas is used in a steam-generator. |
